About this piece

The composition runs left to right in a single band. A broad-canopied tree stands near the left, a slim palm to the right, and between them the pale ground is filled with small flowering sprigs and birds in flight.

Cows move along the lower register — some cream, some tawny, one dark. A woman in a patterned skirt stands at the left edge; a second figure appears at the right. A narrow floral border frames the scene on all four sides.

The panel is set in a plain dark rectangular frame and hung high on a plaster wall, above a wooden console table.

Photographed in a room with an arched doorway, a small wooden shrine, bolsters and a woven floor mat.
